Bleeding Hemorrhoids
Bleeding Hemorrhoids Tips
Bleeding hemorrhoids are quite common when you are experiencing a flare up of internal piles.
How much blood will determine if you need to see your doctor or not. Many people think that there is more blood
than there really is, while others are oblivious to major issues.
You need to know what to look for when it comes to bleeding rectally as it can mean a few
different things. If you are worried that your bleeding is not due to the hemorrhoids or last after the piles have
gone away, then you should see your doctor as soon as possible.
What Is Considered Normal
There is normal bleeding when it comes to hemorrhoids, especially when they are internal. The
swollen veins are filled with blood and have thin skin around them. This can make them bleed easy when it comes to
straining with a bowel movement. If you are suffering from bleeding
hemorrhoids, it would be normal to see some blood on the toilet paper or even some in the toilet. It may even
discolor the water and make you think you are bleeding more than you are.
A way to tell if you are having normal bleeding is to wipe. If you notice that the amount of
blood is very little on the toilet paper after a few wipes, you do not need to be concerned. As the piles begin to
heal and the swelling veins subside, you will notice less bleeding or none at all.
Abnormal Bleeding
While it is very normal to have some bleeding with internal hemorrhoids, it is not normal to
bleed to too much. Too much would be if you are actually seeing blood come from the rectum or filling a cloth or
pad. This type of bleeding should be considered an emergency and you should seek treatment immediately. Bleeding
hemorrhoids heal over a short time.
If your bleeding is persistent, yet your hemorrhoids are small or gone, the bleeding may not be
associated at all with the piles. It is very important to see your doctor if you suspect that the bleeding is
unrelated to hemorrhoids or lasts more than a week. You may have something else going on.
What To Look For And Expect
There are a few things you can look for when it comes to bleeding hemorrhoids. To know for sure
that it is the piles that are causing your rectal bleeding verses something else, you can do a few types of checks.
Wiping is an easy way to determine where blood is coming from. External hemorrhoids that are open due to irritation
will leave blood on the toilet paper when you wipe. It is the same with internal hemorrhoids as well.
If you are seeing blood on your stool or in the water during a bowel movement, you can check to
see if it is normal by looking on your toilet paper for no more blood. Also flush the toilet and see if the red
stays out of the water. If you do not see blood in the water when you are not having a bowel movement that would
open the piles, then you can assume it is normal.
