Caring For Hemorrhoids
Caring For Hemorrhoids Advice
Caring for hemorrhoids can be hard when you are limited in treatment options. Most people find
that when they buy the over the counter treatments they end up using the maximum amount too soon. This can be
highly irritating. When you are suffering from severe burning, itching, and pain, you can feel quite helpless and
embarrassed.
It is not easy to go through the day with debilitating hemorrhoids. Night time can be worse for
those who are trying to get some sleep and the symptoms are not letting up. Finding not only the right remedy, but
also the right schedule is the key to constant relief.
Timing Medications Appropriately
If you are trying to care for hemorrhoids around the clock and found it hard to deal with the
symptoms, try spacing out your medication and using a few that do not conflict with each other. First thing in the
morning and at night tend to be the most difficult time of the day. You can also expect more irritation after a
bowel movement. A great way to avoid dealing with debilitating symptoms and using too much medication is to use a
long term and a short term treatment together.
Many people find that using a suppository in the early morning along with an external cream can
offer lasting instant relief to begin the day. As you go through the day and the medications are wearing off, you
can then use a pad or more cream to last till you get home. At night you will find the best relief will come from
the same morning treatment of a suppository and cream combo.
Natural Relief Between Doses
There are many types of natural treatment that offer you a way to still stay sane when you are
caring for hemorrhoids. These are really great if you are suffering from horrible hemorrhoids and need to save all
your medicated use for work and to sleep. While at home you can use many of these home remedies and not have to
worry about doing them too many times.
An effective way to numb the rectal area and control swelling is to use an ice pack. Ice packs
can be used for 20 minutes and then applied after waiting 30 minutes after the last one. This is great if you are
sitting at home and want fast relief.
Sitz baths are also quite effective for relieving the worst of symptoms. Add about two to three
inches of hot water into the tub and soak the piles. This will clean the area, reduce swelling, and help subside
itching and burning. You can soak many times a day for up to 20 minutes at a time.
Another effective hemorrhoid remedy you can try when caring for hemorrhoids, is witch hazel. This one can be used at home or when going out. You
can either add it to a bath and soak the hemorrhoids in it, or it can be applied topically. Simply saturate a
cotton ball or pad and apply directly to the area.
