Painful Hemorrhoids
Painful Hemorrhoids Advice
If you have painful hemorrhoids, it can be hard to find effective help to control your symptoms.
The burning, itching, and pain can be overwhelming at times. This is quite common and finding the right help to get
rid of the horrible symptoms can be difficult at times.
If you want effective long lasting relief to help you get through your day, you may need to find
a few solutions. Not all over the counter medications work or are the same, and you need a prescription for
stronger medications. You will need to know how bad your case of hemorrhoids is and when it bothers you the most to
find the most effective relief.
Telling The Severity
Symptoms are not always the best judge of how severe your hemorrhoids are. There are some
painful hemorrhoids that are actually not severe compared to others. External piles are the worst for symptoms and
usually are the most painful. Most cases, except for the two worst degrees, of internal hemorrhoids are symptom
free. What you want to know is if your hemorrhoids are small, medium, or large.
The size of the piles will give you an idea which medications will work and which ones will not.
Small to medium hemorrhoids can range from symptom free to moderately painful and irritating. This is when you
would want to try various over the counter medications first to too if they can help control them. If you find this
does not work, see your doctor for a stronger prescription brand.
When To See The Doctor
Painful hemorrhoids can be a sign that it is time to see a doctor.
This is especially true if they are large. Large hemorrhoids can not only be intensely painful, they can block
stool from leaving the body and break open and cause severe bleeding. This type of hemorrhoid is not usually able to be treated using over the counter medications or home
remedies.
They simply stay inflamed and cause severe discomfort. You should make an appointment with your
doctor as soon as you realize that you are suffering from large hemorrhoids. There may be a prescription medication
that can help you get rid of the problem or you may require other interventions. This can include fixative measures
or surgery.
Other Treatments
If you are dealing with severely painful hemorrhoids of any size, you may want to decide if
other treatments are more up your alley. You can only go so far using home remedies and over the counter
medications. When your hemorrhoids are barely touched or keep coming back, it is a useless venture. There are
fixative measures that can be tried that are not as invasive as actually having surgery. These methods include
laser removal and rubber band ligation.
Each method is quite effective for removing piles permanently from the rectal tissue. With
rubber band ligation you can have all the hemorrhoids removed at one time. The tissue is tied off so that the blood
can no longer supply the hemorrhoid. After a few weeks the dead tissue will simply fall off. With laser removal you
can only have one hemorrhoid removed every 10-14 days.
