Prolapsed Hemorrhoids Tips

Prolapsed hemorrhoids are one of the most severe forms of hemorrhoids. This is when an internal hemorrhoid falls out of the anal opening and gets strangulated.

This is very serious. Most times when you have internal hemorrhoids you will never know it.

They usually cause little discomfort or are hardly noticed at all. When the issue that caused them continues to make them worse they can then fall out of the rectum as they grow too big to stay contained or are pushed out when straining to have a bowel movement. Once out of the rectum they will begin to get worse fast.

Types Of Prolapses

There are varying degrees of prolapsed hemorrhoids. A second degree prolapsed is one that only protrudes when you are having a bowel movement and then goes back into the rectum on its own. This is fairly normal for internal hemorrhoids and usually can be effectively treated at home.

A third degree prolapsed is when the hemorrhoid falls out of the anus and cannot go back spontaneously, it must be manually inserted back into the rectum. These need a bit more care than the second degree type. You will need to use various home and over the counter treatments to help you control and cure piles of this type.

The worst and most severe type of prolapsed is the forth degree type. These protrude from the rectum and do not go back in at all. If you have piles of this severity, you will need to see your doctor as soon as possible.

What To Expect

How you will feel symptom wise will depend on the severity of your prolapsed hemorrhoids. The possible discomfort can range from mild to severe symptoms. You can experience mild itching and burning from the rectal area and even slight bleeding. Most often, the less severe types of prolapses will give you no pain at all, just an uncomfortable sensation.

Only the type four prolapse will cause you pain. You may also have a difficult time passing large stool and may not be able to finish your whole bowel movement in one trip to the restroom. This is very common and is due to the inflamed tissue occupying part of the rectum and blocking the anus. If you experience pain while producing a bowel movement, you will want to see your physician immediately. This is not a normal hemorrhoid symptom.

Treatment Options

Over the counter medications can be used alone or in combination for the less severe forms of prolapsed hemorrhoids, they will not work for the more severe type. If you are suffering from the lesser types you can use suppositories to aid in reducing inflammation along with ice.

Medicated pads and creams can also help sooth itching and burning as the piles protrude. The goal is to get them small enough to go back into the anus and stay there. For the more severe form of internal hemorrhoid, you may require surgical intervention and should see your doctor as soon as you can.
